When Miki Agrawal first entered the financial industry after joining Deutsche Bank in New York City, she likely thought her journey was over. Yet the horrific and tragic events of 9/11 would force Agrawal to look closer at her goals and to address what it was she wanted out of life.
After departing from her work in financial offices, Miki Agrawal decided that she wanted to do something more with her life, and she wanted to accomplish something of her own doing. A few short years later, Agrawal would rapidly climb the charts as one of the top entrepreneurs and disrupters in her industry.
Meeting Miki Agrawal
With a larger-than-life marketing presence, it would be easy to see Miki Agrawal as larger-than-life herself, but that isn’t the case. Brimming with confidence and focused on curating positive thoughts and mindsets, Miki Agrawal has become the face of several ‘taboo’ businesses, including THINX, a sustainable period-proof underwear brand, and TUSHY, America’s top bidet brand.
Building Success by Following the Rules
Finding success in a multitude of industries would give Agrawal the ability to check out what it was that she did so well. Ultimately, Agrawal’s focus on curating a positive mindset was the most significant indicator of her success.
Agrawal has three rules that she likes to follow to continue building positive momentum in life and business:
- Be Kind To Yourself – One of Agrawal’s most enduring lessons is that we need to be kind to ourselves and our choices. Agrawal makes a point to check in with herself whenever she is feeling overwhelmed so that she can reset, recalibrate, and refocus on what matters most.
- Avoid Tackling the World – Miki Agrawal is the kind of entrepreneur that likes to do as much as possible, and that is why it is essential to avoid tackling the entire world. Agrawal says, “This is probably the biggest lesson that I’ve learned in my entrepreneurial career. When I first started WILD, I spent 7 years, 7 days a week, working 16-18 hour days.” This would lead to serious burnout issues and is a key reason why finding a suitable partner is essential.
- Be Ready to Look Foolish – Avoiding looking foolish or ‘bad’ can leave you on the sidelines, afraid to engage with your potential. Agrawal suggests that leaders in their industry have to be willing to look bad or make a fool out of themselves if they want to find success in the end.
Once Agrawal was able to accept her three rules of success, she was able to overcome the hurdles and bumps in the road that would otherwise have set her askew. Agrawal says, “I recognize now that every painful and difficult experience I have encountered is just one more beautiful teaching moment in life.”
